A study by Boston Consulting Group forecasts that future growth in the Internet could provide a major boost to GDP creating some 88,000 new jobs in traditional and new creative industries, and up to 44,000 new business start-ups by 2020.

Driven by future growth in Internet use, much of it powered by mobile broadband, the study forecasts that 5.7 million subscribers, 91% of all households and 96% of businesses will be online – 54% of them wireless – by 2020. As a result, the government can benefit from considerable additional tax revenues of HUF 805 billion, as well as major improvements in social, education and health services including Internet access in disadvantaged and rural communities.

The report by Boston Consulting Group highlights that crucial new investment in a digital infrastructure powered by wireless and mobile technologies will be the catalyst for economic and social transformation.
